About the show:

The Mikado is one of the most famous and best loved Gilbert & Sullivan’s operettas. Falling somewhere between an opera and a musical, this comic piece is a witty and satirical tale of social mores and a highly entertaining theatrical presentation. Operettas tend to be shorter and less complex than traditional opera, and as such are very accessible to a broad audience, and those new to the operatic art form. This production brings together a wealth of Irish stage talent in a sparkling new production, directed by Vivian Coates and fully staged, costumed and set.  A stellar cast of much loved and new talent is supported by the Lyric Opera orchestra and chorus under the baton of Colm O'Regan.
